Situated between Ayia Napa and Sotira . It was built during the Byzantine period . It is a small single room chapel with an entrance, late Gothic . Although the church was severely damaged by the devastating earthquake of 1961 , with the assistance of local residents and the Board of Antiquities , repaired again . Around the chapel there are many cells , which are believed to have once been the catacombs where early Christians to avoid persecution by the pagans , resorted to them.
